SCHEDULING AND TIME LINE

Schedule & Timeline  Final Film Opening

Planning out my schedule and timeline for my AS Level Media Studies final film opening was something I did not take seriously at first. I honestly believed filming would be fast and easy but during the experience I learned how essential a schedule is for production.

Pre-Production

For pre-production I made a loose schedule for developing ideas, storyboarding, and shot planning. I gave myself due dates on when to find my location, costumes, and props. One mistake that I could improve on was not allowing myself enough time to perfect my storyboard. I may have rushed myself a bit in that stage because I found some shots were a little confusing to film. Although my shots were not as clear as I wanted them to be, I still benefited from having something to work off of and kept me organized.

Production

Production scheduling had to accommodate school hours and my actors’ availability. One issue I encountered was not allowing myself enough time to film certain shots. Some of my shots needed to be re-done because the light changed or there was a lot of background noise. I went off schedule because filming took longer than I had intended. What I did was rearrange my schedule and worked on the shots that I needed the most.

Post-Production

Post-production took longer than I thought it would. Editing took FOREVER because of getting the sound to sync and cleaning up my cuts. One thing I procrastinated on was sound design and when I had to go back and add it made creating clean cuts difficult. After realizing my error I re-structured my schedule so I could work on sound earlier.

What I Learned :Although my original schedule was not perfect, adapting my timeline helped me complete the project successfully. This experience taught me that flexibility is just as important as planning. If I were to do this project again, I would allow extra time for storyboarding and editing to avoid rushing. Overall, creating and adjusting a schedule helped me develop better time management skills and gave me a more realistic understanding of how media production works. little changes were made in case
